WANTED: The next president of Indonesia

After finished the general parliamentary election, the upcoming crucial stage is the election of Indonesian new president for 2009-2014. As we have observed through media, we are going to have maximum 4 (four) presidential candidates for the election. The first announced pair is H. Muh. Jusuf Kalla and H. Wiranto with acronym JK-WIN, which reflects JK's slogan when he campaigned for the parliamentary election: the faster, the better. After Wiranto joined the slogan becomes "faster, better, and stronger". We still have to wait whether this new slogan may attract more voters to elect them, as the slogan appears to contradict what public views on SBY's slow style. Another candidate would be SBY with the undecided vice post due to competing interests of many parties who prefers their own party leader to be vice president candidate of SBY. Some analysts also urge SBY to pick a professional figure to be his vice president candidate post, which may have some resistance from his party coalition. It is understandable if SBY took more time to consider which is one the best for him. This slow pick, by some analysts, is merely the reflection of SBY's tardy style.
The possible other candidates of presidency would be Megawati and Prabowo. However, the possibilty of nominating their own pairs become more and more unrealistic, since the configuration of party coalition has changed significantly recently. PPP and PAN which before considered to join the big coalition of PDIP, Golkar, Gerinda, and Hanura are now uncertain because the two parties are likely to join SBY's camp. However, up to now, what we have seen that these two parties still face some disputes from their fellow members. Therefore, in the next few days, we are going to see some interesting developments on this presidential race issue, whether Mega and Prabowo finally come together in one package or not, since this is the only option for them. If the two parties, PPP and PAN finally joined SBY's side, then the remaining parties are not enough either votes or number of parlaiment members to form two other candidate's pairs. It means that we are going to have just two pairs of presidential candidates to compete in the next election. However, politics is the art of possibilities, therefore the puzzle of indonesian politics remains perplexing................. let wait and see...........!
